The size is great and the design is well thought out. All the tools are accessible while closed, except the pliers/wire cutters. That means for much of the time it doesn't need to be opened.The problems began when I went to cut a piece of insulated wire (#16 awg). It just wouldn't cut it. It was more like mashing it and still not cutting. I tried several times with limited or no success. Finally just bent the wire back and forth along the crease the tool made and it broke. Not quite what I expected. On to the scissors...and they barely cut paper. Hmmmm...something is not going well. Then I tried the screw driver flat blade. Any torque at all and it started to bend. Again, not a good thing. Finally I noticed that each time I opened it up for the pliers, the two front corners scraped against each other. At first only removing paint... It has a very good fit and finish quality feel to it (SOLID). I also have the Leatherman Squirt Ps4 and this Gerber Dime feels as well made in every way! I can see already this will be Gerbers answer to the Leatherman Squirt Ps4. I love my Leatherman Squirt Ps4 and it is my mini multi-tool EDC. This Gerber Dime will now be in the rotation of my EDC because it really is that good. If you are a fan of the Squirt get this Dime also because at this price it is a must have and a great value. |
