I am fairly strong and had a very hard time getting the chair open to sit on. I bought two and the same problem occurred on both. The first time I pinched a finger. So be very careful where you place your hands. Then crank with all your might. Make sure the crossbar for the bottom is not set until the chair is open. When closing the chair, be sure to lift the crossbar first. I am sure they will loosen up with more use. I will be using them for art/craft booth so I cannot keep them open for use all the time or I would. Have chairs will travel. BTW, I am only 5'4" and these chair heights work well for me. We have in the past had to replace them every 2-3 years because they would break from use. These chairs say they are aluminum but a magnet will stick to them and they are much haevier than the others. Aluminum or not they are the best chair we have ever had. I am over 250 lbs and the material is still like new after 6 mos use every week end. This is truly a fantastic chair for us!! |
