The sound is a little difficult to hear sometimes but if you adjust your volume down it seems to help a little. I do love the fact that the earpiece stays in place, even after running, rolling, dodging, and weaving, as well as the neck mic. I would recommend this for paintball players if you are one. The only down side... since the sound is sometimes difficult, you will almost never hear someone whispering or talking in a low voice no matter where your volume is. If I had seen it in a store first, I may not have bought it as it looks and feels cheap. That said, it seems pretty rugged in practice.When it is positioned correctly on my throat, the transmission is fine. After running around, it slips around and my teammates complain that that cant hear me well (like I'm mumbling). The earpiece only stays put if inserted into the ear canal. The problem is that it then acts as an earplug and I cannot hear (non radio) sounds out of that ear which is important for detecting enemy movement. Pros - Affordable (compared to $200 throat mikes) - Works well if positioned correctly - Others think throat mikes are cool Cons - Easily slips out of position - Acts as an earplug in one ear (blocking natural sounds) Recommended? Not for Airsoft or Paintball. They're not military good, but these were perfect for our needs! I would buy these again.The pipes on my bike are "loud", but these allow me to talk normally. Because it picks up your voice on the throat, it doesn't pick up any background noise (like the wind at 70mph, or the pipes). It has a PTT (push to talk) and VOX (voice operated transmit) selector switch, but I tend to use the PTT more. I'm still trying to adjust the VOX setting to work well, but that is more a radio issue, and not a throat mic/headset issue. The earpiece fits securely in the ear, is comfortable, and can be adjusted for left or right ear use. It's also compact enough to fit inside any helmet. I've tried it with a 1/2 helmet, regular helmet, full face helmet, and those fancy modular helmets. The only real drawback for me is the way it fits a bit snug on my throat.
