Yes, the fabric feels like a knock-off poly-fleece Snuggy was glued to a motel shower curtain. But it unfolds nicely, holds its shape while we're sitting on it, and (very importantly) refolds and closes well. It looks exactly like the picture -- inoffensive blue squares backed by black polyester-ish fabric, folded into itself and sealed with a velcro tab. Handy carrying strap at the top. Don't know how waterproof it is. I imagine it'd hold up well on dewy grass. It's quite stiff, so its utility as a stadium blanket is questionable, but I see complaints about other picnic blankets being too "slippery" to walk on because their tops and bottoms aren't bonded together. This one doesn't have that problem.Also, it's ridiculously cheap and shipped quickly. It's great for picnics at the park, but sand on it isn't wonderful. Also, you have to have the blanket part face down to fold it properly so how are you supposed to keep it clean? It would have made so much more sense if they had it fold up so that the waterproof part showed instead. No, it wouldn't be as "cute" but it'd be far more practical!
