It's a big, big knife that comes insanely sharp out of the box. Lockup was perfect. Blade centering was slightly off but no part of the blade was rubbing against the steel liners so it's not a problem. G10 handles were pretty grippy. Handle is very ergonomic and feels superbly comfortable in hand. The liners, handle scales, and back spacer were pretty much level too. Stonewash finish looks amazing. Kershaw did it on the blade and the liners too it looks like. Speedsafe assisted opening works very well. It is a big knife so it doesn't pop open as fast as a Kershaw Chive or Scallion but it still comes out really fast. It locks with an authoritative click too. Good EDC blade steel as well. My model has the Kershaw scallop serrations which are insanely better than standard pointy serrations. It is a beefy knife but its weight is one that I find very assuring. Great pocket clip. I would have to say that for half the price you pay for a USA made Kershaw, you are getting something that is 85 to 90 percent of the quality. These are well worth the price and almost comparable to the US made knives. I was surprised at the apparent quality and if it was not stamped "china" I would not have been able to tell much of a difference between these knives and the Turbulence I just purchased. The difference is not objectively quantifiable and perhaps it is just a subjective evaluation of the product based on the fact I know it is not US made. The SpeedSafe mechanism is smooth and convenient, the grip shape and texture makes for a solid hold, and the blade is wonderfully sharp. I don't know enough about knives to say that this is the best knife at this price point, but I definitely am satisfied and tempted to find an excuse to buy another Kershaw. |
